Good originality

Those pauses give the song a calipso like quality to it. Seems a bit random at first but it works well. The synths are a little basic. Wish there was another layer of harmony to it, could have added a lot. Bassline is basic, but functional, as is the drumline. Most of the attention is spent on the synth melody, so I thought there could have been more to it. The song has some great original ideas, just don't think it was fleshed out enough. Overall a worthwhile effort.

Oh, and I see you submitted a bunch of songs at once. Well, you won't have any trouble being seen, as you've taken up a third of the page! Personally I figure it would have been better if you submitted a couple tracks every day. Things just tend to get lost here in groups, whereas submitting them two at a time for a few days would make people anticipate the arrival of the tracks. Just me though.

Thank you so much for the specific details in what you wrote, it's incredibly helpful to me.

Yeah, with my older stuff, i was still figuring out melody. I think i'm finally getting a little better with, maybe you'll notice in my later tracks.

Thanks also for the advice in submitting. I'll have to think about how best to put stuff up here.

Great theme music

From the very first note of this song it sounded like a winner. Very nice synth melody, good beat, drums are splended, sound quality is awesome, good contrast, yeah, good all around the board. And it only starts to get slightly repetitive around the 5th loop over. This is a very high quality work that resembles old 8-bit video game character themes. At least that what it reminds me of. Starts out fast and doesn't let up, without any nasty build to contend with. Really wish I could make music of this calibur. Oh well. Nicely done track, as if I haven't said that before.

Meh

Ya, its is a bit different from the original, but not quite as good IMO. Problem is some of the instruments don't have the same quality as the same from the N64 soundboard. There is a lot more contrast in the sound depth though. And only semi-noticably faster. The real difference in this is the drum track, which sounds a whole lot better than the original version. But as a redoing goes, it treads way too similar to the original track. And only improves on the drum track. Technically well made, but ultimately kinda pointless.

Good example of house-trance

I must say before I start, I've made the point before on other people's tracks, I absolutely loathe that drumroll! Its in every damn techno or trance song I've heard! But score wise I didn't gold it against you.

Okay, now onto the review proper. Its really repetitive, moreso than a lot of trance i've heard. But its got a good theme to it, and proficient use of samples. Good solid bass line accompanies the drum line. And overall synth use. Just needs more variety, or could be turned into a shorter loop. Just lost my interest in it when it looped again. Overall though good song, just leave the drumroll out and put more stuff in it and it'll be better.

Pandora-Tranquil responds:

i dont know if u noticed, but it doesnt just loop twice, the melody turns into like a melody remix halfway through with new sounds and stuff, newayz thanks for the review.

glad u liked SOME parts of it lol

Sounds like Brimstar from Metroid

The bass is really scratchy. At higher volumes it sounds like its giving up. The main beat is alright, but nothing really too special. There needs to be an accompaning melody. The synth was too drowned out in the backgrous to really consider as the melody. Good counterpoints however. But the synth interlude was too loud. You caught me off guard with the breakdown at the middle of the track though, I did appreciate that, gave the song some needed variety. I really wouldn't call this ultimate dementia though. I know its utterly pointless to bring up, but the name didn't strike a chord with me. All I would say is try to fix the first part, or scrap it in favor of expanding the second part, which sounded the strongest.

Yeah... that damn mic...

Few problems with the production of this track. Obviously the mic needs to find a stationary postition, and probably needs to be closer to the source of the music. Unless the audio is naturally quiet, its seems like it was recorded from another room. But the piano synth was well done, good choice of music, all that. Really gotta fix that mic, or get a new one, cause otherwise this is a really good session loop.

Ev1lCl0wn responds:

Lol, thanks. The mic was about a foot away from the source, and I even had to turn up the recording bit about 300% for you to hear as it was now. Still trying to fix the mic, Ill prob just get a direct midi cable to go to the computer. Thanks, again. =)

Gasp! Choke!

The thing sbout thses ambient tracks is that they really don't make sense to listen to without being in whatever enviroment that was intended. The lopp had some variety, but came off as really generic. Good experimentation, just didn't stroke me. I've done a couple ambient tracks with no purpose myself, and they aren't particularly good eithier. Check out my track 'Loose Pipe Fittings' and you'll see what I mean. Overall an okay idea, but the execution was a little weak.

Very ecleptic

This is jammy and all that, but keeps a good rythm all throughout. As usual it goes through its paces, but doesn't get lost along the way. And the song quality for this has finally gotten good. I was actually expecting something totally different froma track named Tim Burton's Brain, but now that I've given this a listen I can't remember what I was expecting. Good chord work, nice melodies, basically this song has all grounds covered. Only problem I can see with it is that because its so jammy and goes in a lot of directions, some users may deride the 'formlessness' of the song. But I'm all for it. Keep up the great tuneage.

jaredpresley responds:

It's ironic that I gave one of my most melodic songs in that name. i was inspired by him writing this song. I have no clue how it came up to this. Thanks for the review.

Interesting

It just doesn't seem to go anywhere with the beat. After the first 30 seconds it just repeats itself for the rest of the song. The samples were alright, but didn't really do much for the song. It'd be alright it the song were a third its length, then it could be a better loop, but this just needs more variety.

Competent playing

Keeps the tempo pretty much throughout the song. Not a bad cover, I heard far worse covers of Snowblind. Just that its just a 30-odd second jam. Would have worked better as a loop. But thats purely my opinion, some other users many not appreciate a loop. The sound quality isn't very good though. Just demo quality. And it ends rather abruptly, like you just gave up. The playing is very good, but the track itself kinda sucks. Just work on getting the sound quality better, thats my main issue.
