Well, liked it but I didn't like the beat claps

It kinda conflicted with the synth. That just threw me off, but as far as music for flash goes, this would be great as an after battle type song. But as a stand alone track it seems a bit sparse. I've got an entire catalogue of songs that stink as stand alone tracks, so don't take this as a bad review. Just when a loop is so short, small errors become bigger errors. But anyway not a bad track.

Your jams are some of the best I've heard

Now I really didn't expect to heard Mr. Sandman on the Audio Portal... Sound quality seems to be a little better than a few of the other tracks I've heard from you. And the fact you don't stick with one style of music shows you've put a lot of effort into your playing. I haven't picked my acoustic up in three years unfortunately, so when I do I'm gonna have fun relearning everything. Well, good piece, I can't say that enough.

Good playing

But the sound quality brings it down. I know you probably played up to a microphone, but still it kinda bothers me. This would sound great if you had a better microphone, so thats my real complaint. And you played some offbeat notes, but still, this represented some genuine playing skill. Good feathering on the chords. Just that slight problem with the sound quality... sigh. But all in all a very good track, an easy ten if better quality.

Actually, i played it through a 4 track, that's the problem, lol. The sound quality I try to do my best with. It is a jam, so sometimes a bad note shows up, but I move around it as best as i can. I actually plugged straight through the 4 track, but its tape, so thats the problem. Maybe someday if I have a better recorder i'll redo it. Thanks for the compliment. Email me at jaredpresley@hotmail.com with your music and i will check it out.

It was alright

A few off beat notes, but otherwise a nice recording. Can't find much fault in it, its a good song and it was performed rather well. Good to see at least someone is honoring the classics on Newgrounds, so you get some points for that. Good work.

jaredpresley responds:

Thanks for the suggestions. The beat is the hardest things IMHO about the songs in general, thanks again.

Not too sure about the title

The only thing that strikes me about 'Funeral' is the stirring winds in the song. Sounds like a pretty fun funeral to me. The pipe organ is a nice melody. Just its kinda desolate in certain parts of the song. But you didn't try to blow everyone away with overamplified samples to get attention, and I can appreciate a low key song. So while I was writing this review I though I'd give you a 8, but as I'm hearing it repeat, I'm thinking definately 8, its really quite catchy. Good work.

Very nice

The melody sounds sugary enough to send someone into a diabetic coma. The track is a little repetitive, I was hoping for a beatbreak or something in the middle. But good drums, good bass, good melody and counterpoints, well, can't say I didn't enjoy the track. Good work as usual.

thanks

Pretty good

Reminds me of an old Neo Geo shooter, but can't remember the name. Good loopable track. The only real drawback I see is a lack of variety, but the track is short so doesn't matter too much. Good beat with the melody, sounds hiphop-ish, but I would classify this as drum and bass, being that the bassline is the dominant instrument. But thats just me. And feel free to review my catalog, its not so good but some people seem to like it. Anyway, nice track.

thnx

Good, but it seems a little sparse

Could have used more instruments, and the bassline needed more separation. It seems like it all washes together a few seconds before the end. But can't help but love the Zelda theme, so what the hey. It was well made, and there wasn't anything horribly wrong with it, juts the bass could have been more defined. Thats my only complaint, the remix was very good otherwise.

Dj-Rec0il responds:

yeah i thought so but i changed my mind after a while but ill rember that man i'm satisfied that you liked it

I think I got your style pinned

Your music collection reminds me so much of those early to mid 90's shooters. But this could suit atmospheric moments in movies to. Kinda like flying over coulds or something like that. Liked the melody, and the drumline fit well. The bassline seemed a bit watery though. My only compliant though, its just too bad your audio's got such low scores, but thats the randomness of the audio portal for ya. Like your stuff, keep those loops coming.

xBlanksterx responds:

Hmmm.. we'll maybe my loops remind you about 90's shooters, but myself, I really don't see my loops being connected to those 90's shooters.
Of course, that may be because im not much an arcade gamer.
Anyway, thanks for reviewing.
Again :)

Theres a lot of variety

But no coheresiveness. It switches frantically from one style to another. May suit the needs of some movies, but still its kinda jarring. But I can tell you've got some interesting ideas floating about. When you finally get down the basics you'll do very well for yourself.
